West Yorkshire Police entered our Sandbox to help develop a Domestic Abuse Assessment Tool that uses emerging supervised machine learning technology to enhance the completion of risk assessments at domestic abuse incidents by Police Officers. The tool is intended to help reduce the number of domestic abuse offences by helping predict whether or not any serious harm offences may occur in the next 12 months following an incident.

Meta Platforms Inc

Meta entered our Sandbox to explore a system using privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) which aims to enable the accurate measurement of the effectiveness of online advertising whilst improving user privacy. The model is a potential alternative to online advertising attribution approaches that seek to track and profile individual users, using third-party cookies and similar technologies.
Department for Education
Exit date: May 2025
The Department for Education entered the Sandbox to develop their ‘Education Credential’ which uses innovative concepts of decentralised identity and verified credentials to allow post-16 students within the English education system to access, manage and share their information when applying and enrolling into further education institutions. The aim of the education credential is to streamline existing application and enrolment processes that currently use time consuming methods such as paper-based forms, manual input and photocopying which duplicates effort.

Kestrix
Exit date: May 2025
Kestrix Ltd entered the Regulatory Sandbox for support in navigating privacy and data protection compliance, as well as addressing public concerns about drone use. Kestrix is a technology startup focused on analysing thermal images of buildings to assess heat loss and generate efficiency retrofit plans. This data is intended to support social housing providers, local and city authorities, energy/utility providers and mortgage providers, as well as end customers/residents to plan and price retrofits faster, ultimately accelerating decarbonisation, with the aim of helping the UK achieve its Net Zero goals.
