Chief Constable Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI)

The complainant requested information from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (“PSNI”) relating to online sexual offender prosecutions. The PSNI refused the request citing section 12(1) (cost of compliance) of FOIA.
The Commissioner’s decision is that the PSNI was entitled to rely on  section 12(1) of FOIA to refuse the request. The Commissioner also finds that the PSNI complied with its obligations under section 16 to offer advice and assistance. 
The Commissioner does not require any steps as a result of this decision.
