The complainant requested information relating to legal advice given to Priti Patel, in her former capacity as Home Secretary, about the then proposed Rwanda asylum plan. The Home Office refused to provide the requested information, citing sections 27(1) (international relations) and 42(1) (legal professional privilege) of FOIA. The Commissioner’s decision is that the withheld information is exempt from disclosure on the basis of sections 27(1) and 42(1) of FOIA. No steps are required as a result of this decision.
