Responses to the consultation on the draft data sharing code of practice

As required by the Data Protection Act 2018 the ICO has prepared a new data sharing code of practice. The new code explains and advises on changes to data protection legislation where these changes are relevant to data sharing. It addresses many aspects of the new legislation including transparency, lawful bases for processing, the new accountability principle and the requirement to record processing activities.

In July 2019 we launched a consultation on this draft code, the responses of which were used to help inform our work on the final version of the code. We have now published the responses and our summary of the responses.

All responses to the consultation from organisations and individuals responding in a professional capacity have been published in full (even where the organisation has not been explicitly named in the response), with the exception of names, email addresses, telephone numbers and other forms of personal data, which have been redacted.

We have not published where the respondent indicated that they were acting in a private capacity (ie as a member of the public).
