Feedback on guidance on Profiling tools for online safety

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is gathering feedback on its guidance on 'profiling tools for online safety'. The guidance outlines the data protection and privacy considerations to take into account when using profiling tools in trust and safety systems, including where they are used to meet the requirements of the Online Safety Act 2023 (OSA).

This guidance is part of our ongoing commitment to produce guidance on online safety technologies, and ensure regulatory coherence between the data protection and online safety regimes. 

We welcome your feedback on the questions in this survey. Your responses will help us to understand the impact of our guidance and ensure it meets the needs of stakeholders.   

The survey is divided into the following sections: 

  • Section 1: Questions about you and your organisation 
  • Section 2: Questions about how you’re using the ICO’s guidance on profiling tools for online safety 
  • Section 3: Questions about the impact of the guidance

The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and will remain open until 31 October 2025.  

Privacy Statement 

The primary purpose of this survey is to generate statistical insights into how the guidance is being used and its impact. For this survey, we may publish a summary of these statistical insights and, if relevant, a high level summary of any qualitative insights we receive. However, we will not publish the individual survey responses. If we publish a summary of the responses, information and views will not be attributed to individual respondents.
