The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis (Metropolitan Police Service) (“MPS”) has been served with an Enforcement Notice as a result of evidence seen by the Commissioner about its performance in relation to its statutory duties under the Freedom of Information Act. This Notice follows a previous enforcement notice which the Commissioner served on MPS in May 2024, which MPS complied with. However, despite some performance improvements since the previous notice, MPS’s compliance rate has not reached an acceptable level. The Enforcement Notice requires MPS to ensure that its FOI performance meets the requirements set out in Annex 1 of the notice.
