The complainant has requested information relating to meetings senior ministers have had with banking industry executive by Rachel Reeves in 2024. HM Treasury (HMT) provided some information, it refused to provide the remaining information citing sections 27(1)(a) -international relations, 35(1)(a) – the formulation or development of government policy and 43(2) – prejudice to commercial interests of FOIA.
The Commissioner’s decision is that the information withheld on the basis of sections 27(1)(a), 35(1)(a) and 43(2) is exempt from disclosure and the public interest favours withholding this information.
The Commissioner does not require further steps.
