Investigations under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003

Types of case:

  1. Incident – Breaches of PECR regulation 5A and lower priority cases involving initial enquiries appear on the Incidents dataset.
  2. Investigation – Investigations are generally cases considered as suitable for potential enforcement action (Civil Monetary Penalty/ Enforcement Notice) or are classed as ‘Operations’ involving complex or high-profile issues.
