The ICO exists to empower you through information.

We are launching our next round of secondment opportunities within the ICO legal teams for privacy lawyers, litigation lawyers or lawyers with regulatory enforcement experience

Our secondments offer an exciting opportunity for firms and lawyers alike to build data protection experience and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

Secondees will form an integral part of the ICO Legal Service and have the opportunity to play a key role in delivering on ICO 25 through casework, enforcement work, policy work or litigation.

For more information about the secondee experience, you can read a blog from one of our secondees from our previous intake.

Application Details

Secondments are open to all UK and EU qualified lawyers (or those with an appropriate equivalent professional qualification) currently employed in a law firm with privacy law experience, or experience of litigation and/or regulatory enforcement.

All secondees will need to be based in the UK during their secondments.

We aim to offer the successful secondees a range of work suitable for their level of experience and to provide relevant training as part of the role.

The ICO will contribute a flat rate towards the cost of secondees with further details available on request.

The secondments will run for 6 months commencing Monday 22 April 2024 (subject to necessary on-boarding checks and secondment agreements).

Firms that would like to put forward candidates should email a CV and covering letter for each candidate by 11.59 pm on Friday 23 February 2024.

Candidates should be available for call with the ICO during the week commencing 26 February 2024.

Please note we will not consider applications via agencies.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss the benefits of the programme please contact Mairead O’Reilly, or Megan Duncan.
