Video of Kids vs Grown-ups: what parents think kids do online
Children sit and listen as their parents talk honestly about online behaviour.
In the first video of our experiment, the children sit and listen as their parents talk honestly about online behaviour. From screen time and social media to privacy settings, apps and sharing personal information.
In the next video, the roles are reversed. Parents sit and secretly listen as their children talk openly about their online behaviour, the apps they use, what they enjoy and how they make decisions about sharing information online.
In the final video, parents and children come back together. They talk about what surprised them, what they misunderstood, and what they want to do differently when it comes to online behaviour, privacy and safety.
Many parents care deeply about children’s online safety but aren’t always sure how to start the conversation. Concerns about social media, online privacy, and who children are talking to online can feel overwhelming, especially when technology changes so quickly.
Our campaign videos show that children’s online privacy isn’t just about parental controls, screen time limits or privacy settings. It’s about trust, listening and recognising that everyone is learning together.
