News about the Sandbox
The transition period for leaving the EU ended on 31 December 2020. The GDPR has been retained in UK law as the UK GDPR, and will continue to be read alongside the Data Protection Act 2018, with technical amendments to ensure it can function in UK law.
We will update this page to highlight and link to new and blogs about the Sandbox.
The ICO has a rolling blog on the subject of the Sandbox which is updated periodically.

- The ICO's regulatory sandbox re-opens, with children’s privacy and data sharing in focus.
Jul 2020
- The first two reports from participants in the regulatory sandbox are published, from JISC and Heathrow Airport Limited.
March 2020
- A six month review of the Sandbox by Ian Hulme, Director of Regulatory Assurance at the ICO.
July 2019
- The first participants are selected.

- A shortlist of participants is created.
