The ICO exists to empower you through information.

COMPLETE

Led by Dr. Yves-Alexandre de Montjoye, the Harpo project aims to create a tool that is freely available online and will enable citizens, NGOs and government organisations to better evaluate the risk of re-identification that can degrades trust and prevents privacy-by-design solutions from being implemented. Harpo seeks to make data collection safer and more transparent, providing a better balance between the potential of data and privacy.

The research engages with and evaluates claims of anonymity. This will raise awareness, gather public support for privacy-preserving solutions, and allow data collectors to identify how to make the data collection process anonymous-by-design.

The project is set to complete in January 2020.
