6 month secondment 

We are offering a secondment opportunity to work as a Cyber Security Data Analyst. The role will sit within the Cyber Incident Response and Investigations team and will involve collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including our Intelligence department, Technology department and a number of key partner agencies including NCSC, NCA, NCCU, NECC, other DPAs and CAs under the NIS Regulations.

You will have experience working as a cyber security data analyst to support a number of forthcoming projects to be undertaken by the ICO’s Cyber Incident Response and Investigations team. 

Your key responsibilities will include providing direct support to the team and the Intelligence department. You will be developing new and existing intelligence products and information sharing arrangements with key partner agencies in relation to cyber security focusing on new and emerging risks / threats.  You will contribute to the development of existing intelligence products with the aim of improving visibility of the threat landscape and the identification of further opportunities to both gather and share intelligence which will support the delivery of the ICO’s cyber related strategic objectives and contribute to reducing cyber related harm to UK citizens.  Primarily you will contribute to the delivery of project work focusing on the compilation and potential sharing of aggregated personal data breach report data.

You will play a key role in supporting the development of internal products that will assist the team to identify opportunities for proactive, targeted engagement with organisations to raise awareness and improve standards of compliance.

Your experience, skills and ability

  • Experience of cyber security, preferably also with experience in intelligence or data analytics
  • Knowledge of the ICO’s regulatory remit and its role in relation to the investigation of cyber security incidents under GDPR and NIS Regulations would also be beneficial
  • Strong communication skills
  • Confident in engaging with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally
